The principal goal of Discovering Rockland is to design cooperative projects for students and community members. Through this endeavor, we hope to foster:

• appreciation and regard for the diversity of the community around us
• respect for all people and an understanding of different cultures
• a feeling of connection to our community through engaging in authentic community service

We seek to design exhibits which:

• stimulate vivid, personal memories and enable visitors to become emotionally engaged with the past
• foster the involvement of the entire community in the education of our children
• further learning centered curriculum and higher order thinking skills in school and at home
• chronicle a growing collection of artifacts that tell the story of the Hudson River Valley
• depict special historical landmarks that distinguish our community
