Prepare for employment in medical offices, hospitals, labs and other health related facilities. Upon successful completion of this National Healthcareer Association (NHA) approved program, students will be eligible to take the NHA certification test for Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician. This course includes live venipuncture and capillary puncture in class. Interships at a local healthcare facility required as part of the course hours. Emergency First Response certification included. Topics include infection control, safety, medical emergencies, body systems, medical terminology, assisting with the physical exam, measuring vital signs basic electrocardiography(EKG), phlebotomy, routine lab tets, patient communication, and the role and ethical responsibilities of Medical Assistants. HS Diploma or equivalent required. The minimum reading level necessary to enroll is 8.0. Tuition includes book basic equipment kit, lab coat, materials and NHA Certification test fee.
