Gunboat

The gunboat, a small, unnamed vessel with a single gun mounted on the bow, was supposed to guard the most vulnerable area of the British defense - the shallow part of Haverstraw Bay on the south flank, but it was not there during the night of the battle, and had previously been absent as well.
