Fleche
Fleche, from the French for arrow., a simple earthen
fortifications open at the back, and here at Stony Point,
modified for artillery with embrasures. The sides of the fleches
were 12 feet at the base, tapering to 8 feet at the top. There
was 1 sergeant and 8 infantry soldiers. The weapons were unable
to be fired because the area was rushed by the enemy and the gun
crew was captured.
