Education

Education can prevent problems from happening and minimize problems should something happen. The first priority of your training program should be student safety. Education in this area will provide students with the information they need to use the Internet and e-mail safely and equip them with procedures to follow when an incident arises.

Training for teachers, support staff, and administrators that focuses on the risks involved in using the Internet and E-Mail. is the second priority of a good education program. Unless the staff is aware of the hazards they will not understand the need to rigorously supervise their students when they are on the Internet.

Insuring that all school staff understand the school's policies regarding use of the school's computer systems. They should understand the limitations on privacy when using the school's computer system and policies that guide both job related and occasional personal use of the Internet by staff.

Finally, parents and community should be educated regarding the potential risks associated with using the Internet, the school's risk management strategies, and the basics of the school computer use policy.
