BOOKS & MAGAZINES

We first got into a group and then we were assigned to do a survey about books and magazines. We came up with questions which told us what students liked and did not like about magazines or books. The next step we did was to type our questions on the computer. After we made a model of the survey, the teacher made copies for the whole 7th and and some 8th graders. We gave the survey to the students on February 21, 1997, in period six.

Days after, we as a group started to tally up all the surveys. By looking at the results, we found out that the majority of the 7th grade like to read.

Fifty percent of the students like to read for fun. They like to read fiction books and Teen magazines. Twenty-eight percent like to read newspapers and fifty-nine percent like to read magazines. We also found out that seventy-four percent like to read in English and sixteen percent like to read in Spanish. In conclusion, we have learned that only about half the seventh graders in SHMS spend much time reading.
