Oprah Gail Winfrey

Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on Jan. 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah's family got their name originally, from Oprah's great -great -grandparent's master in the slave days. When Master Winfrey freed them they took his last name and set off as the Winfreys. When Oprah was born there was a slight name mix-up. Oprah's name was to be one from the bible. Oprah's aunt wanted to name her Orpah. But when the birth certificate came to the courthouse it said Oprah. As a child, Oprah moved around a lot. When her mother abandoned her, Oprah's grandma took care of Oprah. Oprah's grandma moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There, Oprah attended school and college. Oprah got her diploma in 1987. Now Oprah is living with her boyfriend, Stedman, her 2 Chocolate Spaniels, Sophie and Solomon, and several Golden Retrievers. She hosts a talk show named The Oprah Winfrey Show.
