Sarah Vaughan

Like most African-American singers, Sarah Vaughan' s music career started at the church choir. She was born in 1924. One day Sarah entered an amateur talent contest at the famous Apollo theater in New York City. Sarah won the contest. Sarah won the prize of a week of preforming at the Apollo theater. After the week of preforming at the Apollo theater Sarah was asked to join the famous jazz pianist Earl Fatha Hines. That was what triggered Sarah Vaughans career. Sarah continued singing jazz until she died of lung cancer in Beverly Hills, California in 1990.
