Patty Taverna
Patty Taverna was born in Mount Kisco, New York on January 10, 1952. She is a second grade teacher at Pocantico Hills School. She lives in Brewster, New York. Mrs. Taverna started teaching when she was twenty-two years old. She has been teaching for twenty-eight years. She has one sister named Linda. She and her husband Thomas were married on July 14, 1979; they have one daughter Megan.
When she first started teaching she was very excited, yet very nervous. "All my teachers in elementary school were very special," says Patty. Her favorite subjects to teach are reading and writing. Patty is always looking for new and exciting things to teach. Using technology is one of the things that makes teaching exciting for her. Patty won the Presidential Award for Reading & Technology in 2001 from the International Reading Association. It was very exciting!
Patty's favorite book is Charlotte's Web. When we were in second grade, as her students, we starred in the play Charlotte's Web. Danielle was a sheep and Joelle was Charlotte. It was T-EE-RR-RR-II-FF-II-CC-CCCC! In her spare time she likes collecting antiques, spending time with her family, and walking and reading on the beach. She likes watching tennis. Her favorite color is yellow.
Patty Taverna loves to teach! She makes learning so much fun that it was hard to leave second grade. She is a great teacher!
