Sheryl Swoops
Sheryl Swoops is one of the greatest women basketball players ever. She a six
feet tall and can really shoot! She was a star on the World Champion Houston
Comets. She was born in Brownfield, Texas on March 25, 1971. She and her three
brothers were raised by their mom. She went to Texas Tech on a basketball
scholarship. She was a great player in college. She was named Most Valuable
Player in the NCAA Championship game and National College Player of the Year in
1993. Sheryl won a gold medal in two Olympic Games, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia and
2000 in Sydney, Australia. Sheryl has won way too many awards to mention!
Sheryl was married to Eric Jackson on June 7, 1995. They have a son named Jordan Eric (named after Michael Jordan, of course) born on June 25, 1997. She was the first woman to have a NIKE basketball shoe named after her, Air Swoopes. Sheryl has even written a book, an autobiography called Bounce Back. Sheryl is recovering from knee surgery.
