Pat Summitt

How would you feel if you had a college record of 913-177 and coached for 32 seasons? Well Pat Summitt did. She is the head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers Women’s Basketball Team. Pat Sue Head Summitt was born on June 14, 1952 in Henrietta, Tennessee and grew up on a farm where there was plenty of hard work. She played her college basketball at the University of Tennessee-Martin; she was an All American and co-captain of the 1976 Olympic basketball team winning a silver medal. Pat has never had a losing season at Tennessee, in fact she has won seven NCAA Basketball Championships as their coach. Her son Tyler was born in 1990 and Pat tries to watch as many of his basketball games as she can. She enjoys the beach, the pool, cooking, golf, running, water and snow skiing, and boating.

Pat has won more coaching awards than we could ever write her but we have to mention that on January 19, 2006 she won her 900th game. In May 2006 she became the 1st coach of women’s college basketball to earn $1,000,000 per year.
