Annika Sörenstam was born on October 9, 1970 in Stockholm, Sweden. She
started playing golf when she was 12 years old. Her dad's name is Tom and her
mother's name is Gunilla. Her sister Lotta (Charlotta) is also a professional
golfer on the LPGA Tour. Annika lives in Incline Village, Nevada. She married
David Esch on January 4, 1997. In her free time she enjoys sports, music and
cooking. She went to the University of Arizona and in 1991 she was College
Player of the Year and in 1991 & 1992 she was an All American. Annika joined
the LPGA tour in October 1993. She became an important golfer on the tour right
away. She was WPG European Tour Rookie of the Year in 1993 and was Rolex Rookie
of the Year in 1994. In 1995 she won the Athlete of the Year in Sweden. Annika
became the first woman to pass $8,000,000 in career earnings. She is one of our
favorite golfers!
