J. K. Rowling
J.K. Rowling is a great writer! She was born in Chepstow, Gwent
England, in 1965. Her
full name is Joanne Kathleen Rowling. She became interested in writing when she
was only six. At that age she wrote a story called Rabbit. She graduated
from the University of Exeter in England. After a year studying in Paris she took a job working for Amnesty
International in London. She also worked as a teacher. Her mother died in 1990.
She was divorced single parent and living on public assistance when she wrote Harry
Potter and the Sorceress Stone at a café during her daughter's (Jessica)
naps. Since then the series has won tons of awards and sold millions of copies.
People say, "It's the first book I liked enough to finish," and "It seems like you are actually in the book." Some people read one of her books in less than 24 hours. She says she has more fun writing them than anyone has reading them. Her two favorite books are The Chamber of Secrets and The Goblet of Fire.
I'm glad I got a chance to learn about J.K. Rowling. She is my favorite author.
