Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt was born and raised in New York City in 1884.
She also lived there her whole life. Her mother died in 1982 and her father died in two
years later. She then had to live with her grandmother who was a stern lady. Eleanor went
to boarding school at the age of 15. They gave her a chance to develop self-confidence
among the English girls.
Eleanor was famous because of three things. The first was her husband was elected Governor of New York in 1928. The second was her husband was President of the United States in 1932. The third was that she got a job with the United Nations fighting for universal human rights.
