Beatrix Potter

Beatrix Potter started drawing when she was a child. Beatrix started drawing to fill in all the hours she spent alone. Beatrix did not go to school. She had a governess that came and taught her at home. Beatrix learned most of her drawing skills by herself, and she sometimes used her animals as models. Beatrix had to earn money to get her first book printed. She published The Tail of Peter Rabbit in 1901. Children loved her stories. The characters in Beatrix stories did not act like humans. They acted like animals. She always kept in her mind her stories were for children, so Beatrix made a small book just for children.
