Rosa Parks
Freedom Fighter
1913-

Rosa Parks is an African American. She wanted freedom for blacks. Rosa took the bus to work every day, but back then the black had to sit at the end of the bus and if there no more seats they had to stand.

Rosa Parks and other African American did not like that. They wanted to boycott the bus, that means they refused to go on the bus. The bus company would go out of business because not to many people would go on the bus. The Africans Americans would walk or find other transportation. It worked! The bus company went out of business. They had little money to pay the bus drivers and to pay for gas. Rosa Parks was put in jail in 1955. However, Rosa's family paid a big price for her freedom. Rosa and her husband lost their jobs. After she was released her husband and her moved to Detroit Michigan to feel more safe. Rosa still lives in Detroit today.
