Sherry Lansing
Sherry Lansing is the former Chief Executive Officer of Paramount Pictures
and was the first woman to head a major motion picture studio.
Sherry Lee Lansing was born on July 31, 2944 in Chicago, Illinois. Her father died when Sherry was only nine and her mother took over his real estate business. Her mother was a strong woman who had fled Nazi German when she was only 17. She came to America speaking no English.
Sherry graduated from Northwestern in 1966, she has worked as a teacher, model and actress. By 1975 Sherry was head of MGM story department. In 1980 she became the first female president of 20th Century Fox and in 1992 she took over at Paramount Pictures.
Sherry now serves as a Regent of the University of California, and she sits on the boards of The Carter Center, and chairs the Sherry Lansing Foundation. "One of The Sherry Lansing Foundation's top initiatives is Prime Time LAUSD , an innovative educational partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District that places highly qualified retiree members in local public schools to fulfill specific needs."
