Helen Keller

Helen Keller was born in 1880. She had a serious illness that destroyed her sight and hearing at the age of about 1 and a half. Helen's parents had Anne Sullivan come to teach Helen. Anne was nearly blind in child hood but restored her sight. Helen decided she would have to learn how to speak and take lessons. By the time she was 16, she could communicate well enough to go to school then college. Helen died in 1968.
