Iman Abdul Majjid
Iman Abdul Majjid was born on July 25, 1955 in Somalia, Africa. Her father
was an Somalian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and her mother was a nurse. Her
parents fled Somalia and now live in Tanzania. She was the second born and has
two brothers and two sisters. After high school in Egypt she went to Nairobi
University, in Kenya, Africa where she studied political science. Famous
American photographer Peter Beard saw her and asked her to become a professional
model. At first she wasn't interested but Iman eventually agreed because she
wanted the money for her college tuition. She became famous very quickly and
moved to New York City. Iman was married twice. Her first husband was NBA star
Spencer Haywood, together they had Zulekha Haywood in 1978. In 1992 she married
rock star David Bowie. She and David have a daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones who
was born August 15, 2000. Today Iman has a company called IMAN Cosmetics and
Skincare Collection. She is a U.S. citizen living in New York with her husband,
singer David Bowie and their daughter. That is the story of Iman.
