Stefanie Maria Graf
Steffi Graf was born on June 14, 1969 in Bruehl, West Germany. Steffi started
playing tennis at the age of 6. Her father Peter sold his business and started
his own tennis school where her coached Steffi. Her mother Heidi was a tennis
player too. At 13, she became the youngest player ever to win the West German
18-and-under championship. She was the 3rd woman in history to win a true grand
slam, taking the Australian, French, U.S. and Wimbledon singles titles. Steffi
is married to tennis great Andre Agassi and they have one child. She won both the
Grand Slam and the Olympic gold medal in 1988 at the age of 19. Steffi has won
22 Grand Slam single titles- 7 at Wimbledon, 6 at the French Open, 5 at the U.S.
Open and 4 at the Australian Open. She retired in 1999 with 107 career singles
titles and the all time tour leader in career earnings with over $21 million
in prize money.
