Dora
Lopez is a Network Engineer for the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration. According to Ms. Lopez, the best part of her job is getting to
work with school children. Even though most network engineers are men, she does
not feel out of place. "If a man can do it, a woman can definitely do
it!" She went to school at San Jose State. She always was a B student in
math and science in high school, but her advice to students is to study had
because math and science never go away. Right now Dora is working on NASA's
Earth Observing System. The project, which started in 1999, has satellites that
will observe the Earth's surface, clouds, aerosols, and radiation balance for 15
years.
