Cynthia Cooper
is very famous for playing basketball very well. People say that she is the best girl's
basketball player of all time. People also say that Cynthia and Michael Jordan are a lot
alike. Cynthia also led her team to the first championship win in 1997, and was the M.V.P.
The next season was a big success for Cynthia. Cynthia didn't miss a shot that year and
she had 60 3-pointers. She's already scored more than 1,000 points, scoring 23 points per
game and still leading the league. Cynthia started playing basketball when she was 16. She
has become one of the sport's greatest legends. When her mother (Mary Cobbs) got breast
cancer some years ago, Cynthia started to take care of her family and do most of the jobs
around the house. She came running back from games and skipped practice just to take her
mother to appointments. Cynthia grew up in Los Angeles. Her brother's death was a big
upset to the family. She wanted to quit the team but her coach managed to convince Cynthia
to keep playing her favorite game, basketball. Cynthia was able to play in a scholarship
for University of Southern California. Then she went to the Olympic Games and won the gold
in 1998.
