Carol Burnett

Carol Burnett's made 65 an hour at her first job as an usher at Warner Brothers Movie Theatre in Hollywood. She wanted more money so she went across the street and found a job making 75 an hour at the box office of the Iris Theatre. 

Carol is a television comedian, actress, and a singer. Carol Creighton Burnett was born on April 26, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. Carol had a very upsetting childhood. When she was only eight her father left her, her mother, and her stepsister. Both of her parents were alcoholics and her mother died from this at the age of 47. Her father died in 1954 and her mother in 1957.

She was raised by her grandmother and had a good education in high school and college. She graduated from Hollywood High School in 1951. Carol won a scholarship to attend UCLA, the University of California at Los Angeles. She majored in English and theater arts. Carol left UCLA in 1954 and moved to New York to follow her dream to be an actress.

She has won many awards including Emmys, Golden Globes, Peoples Choice Award, Theater World Award, and many more. She starred for 11 years on the Carol Burnett Show, which by itself won 22 Emmys.

She was a big family person. She married twice. Her first husband was an actor named Don Saroyan who she later divorced. Next, she married her second husband named Joe Hamilton who was a director and producer that produced the Carol Burnett Show. She also later divorced him. She is now single. Her daughters Jody, Carrie, Louise and Erin-Kate are now grown up. All her daughters became successful. One of her trademarks was tugging on her earlobe for a greeting to her family.
