Roberta Bondar

Roberta was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada. Roberta was the first Canadian woman to see earth from space. Roberta is a neurologist and researcher. She uses the internet to gather lots of information about space flights and bios of the current and past astronauts. She also makes a lot of speeches about the space program.

Dr. Bondar wanted to be an astronaut since she was little. When Roberta was eight she made model rockets, space stations and satellites. In space, Dr. Bondar had to eat three types of food. The first was dehydrated food which had all the water removed. She also had carrots and apples but they only lasted a few days because there wasn't a refrigerator. She also had tortillas because they had fewer crumbs. The last food she ate was mushrooms and beef. Before Roberta went into space she liked to go outside and look at the stars and she also wondered what was beyond Planet Earth?
