Eleanor Boardman

Eleanor Boardman was born on August 19, 1898 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She left home to be in the movies because her family did not approve of movies. She signed a contract in 1922 with Goldwyn Pictures. She made $75.00 a week when she started in 1922. She met King Vidor, a famous movie director at that time. They were married on September 8, 1926. They had two daughters, Antonia and Belinda, and were divorced in 1930. Eleanor's first movies were silent films. Her first "talkie" was in 1929. She made about 36 movies in all. Eleanor spent the 1940's and 1950's moving between the U.S. and Europe. Eleanor Boardman died on December 12, 1991 in Montecito, California.
