Shirley Jane Temple Black
Shirley Temple Black was very talented in
singing and tap-dancing. She starred in her first movie at the
age of three. Shirley Temple was born in 1928, in Santa Monica,
California. She is still alive today! She was one of the most
successful child stars. In 1934, she starred in Now and
Forever, Little Miss Maker, Baby Take A Bow and Bright
Eyes. That year she was presented an Academy Award for
"grateful recognition of her outstanding contribution."
In 1935, she starred in The Little Colonial, Curly Top,
and The Littlest Rebel. In 1936, she played in Poor
Little Rich Girl, Dimples, and Stowaway. In 1937, she
had the leading role in Wee Willie Winkle and Heidi.
In 1938, she stared in Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farm, and Little
Miss Broadway. Also in 1939, she had the leading role in The
Little Princess and Susanna of Mounties. When she was
a teenager she starred in other movies but they did not work out
well. She retired from acting in 1949. In 1967, she ran as a
Republican candidate for the Congress of the United States of
America but that did not work out well either. She was also a
member of the U.S. delegation of the United Nations through
1969-1970. She was the first woman in the United States history
to be the Chief of Protocol from 1967 through 1977.
