Maya Angelou was born Marguerite Johnson on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis. She
is an African American author (poet) and an entertainer. Spent most of her
childhood with her grandmother. She is very good at writing poetry. In January
1993, she read her poem, "On the Pulse of Morning" at the inauguration
of President Bill Clinton.
