Texas is a great and exciting state. It is located in the southwestern region of the United States. It is surrounded by Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Mexico makes up the southwestern boundary. The Gulf of Mexico is its’ southwestern boundary.
There are a lot of interesting facts about Texas. It's ranked 2nd in size because it is 268,601 sq. miles and its major cities are Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso and Corpus Christi. Austin is the capital. Did you know Texas' population is over 19 million it is 19,128,261!
Texas has dozens of facts and symbols. Here are some. The state flower is the beautiful bluebonnet. You won't believe that the state gem is my birthstone the Topaz. The great pecan tree is Texas’ tree and the state song is ''Texas, Our Texas''. The state animal is the Longhorn. The state motto is relationship between friends, "Friendship". The state bird is the Mockingbird.
The state of Texas has many landforms. The highest point in Texas is Guadeloupe Peak and the lowest point is sea level. The second highest point in Texas is El Capitan. Sam Rayburn Lake is the biggest lake in Texas. Lake Arrowhead is named after its’ shape which looks like a arrowhead. Caddo Lake, San Marcos River. The Rio Grande is the most famous river in all of Texas. It divides Texas and Mexico.
The state of Texas has an abundance of history. In 10,000 B.C. the first native Americans arrived. Mexicans settled in Texas and in 1845 a big battle was fought at the Alamo. On December 24,1845 Texas became the 28th state. In 1962, the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center was built by NASA in North Houston, Texas. The tragic death of President John F. Kennedy took place in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.
The best places to visit in Texas are cool and exciting. They are the Big Bend where John Henry died. El Capitan. You can also visit Six Flags and Sea World. Don't miss out on the State Fair in Mid-October.
The state of Texas manufactures millions of things each day. It manufactures chemicals and non-electric things, junk foods and healthy foods and makes 1billion dollars on chemicals each year. Texas is the number one state in making rubber.
Texas has a lot of natural resources. Cotton is grown in Texas and so are grains. Some of the grains are oats, wheat and rice. Below ground Texas grows peanuts, potatoes, sweet potatoes. Radishes, yucca.Texas also has oil and mineral deposits.
Texas grows and raises millionsof things each day. Beef cattle are raised in hundreds of places in Texas. Hogs and Pigs are commonly raised in Texas. Sheep and poultry are raised there too.
I had fun doing this report on Texas. I have learned tons of things about Texas and I hope you have too. The best part of doing this report was typing it.
