Oklahoma

Oklahoma is a flat and exciting state. Its location is in the south central region in America, and it's in the western part. North of it is Kansas and Colorado. East of it is Arkansas and Missouri. West of it is New Mexico, and south of it is Texas.

There are many interesting facts about Oklahoma. Its population is 3,277,687 placing it in 27th for population. Its climate is the one for tornadoes. It also has a record for the hottest temperature, which is 120 degrees. Its coldest is 27o below 0. Oklahoma's size is 69,919 square miles, and it's in 18th for size. It is 230 miles long and 464 miles wide. The capital of Oklahoma is Oklahoma City. Some other cities are Guthriu, Norman, Tulsa, Lawton, Enid, Midwest City, and Muskokee.

Oklahoma has a lot of state symbols and facts. The state bird is the scissored tailed flycatcher. The state flower is the Mistletoe. Oklahoma has two nicknames. They are the "Sooner State," and the "Boomer State." "OKLAHOMA" is the state song. The state Motto is "Labor Conquers all Things." The state animal is the Bison, and the mountain boomer lizard is the state reptile. Its' state fish is the white Bison, and the state tree is the redbud. The state grass is Indian grass. Its’ state stone is the Barite Rose stone, and its state colors are green, and white.

Oklahoma has interesting landforms. Some rivers were named after Indian tribes. They are the Verdigris, Cimarron, Nesho, Red, and Kiamichi. I gave it that category, because Indians used to live there. The North Canadian River goes past Oklahoma City, and goes through the whole state from east to west. Did you know the Red River borders Texas from the south? Three rivers connect to Eulaufa Lake. One is the North Canadian River.

The history of Oklahoma is very interesting. People first came here 9,000 years ago. A man searching for gold, his name was Francisco Vasquez de Coronado. 1762 Spain took control of Oklahoma. Oklahoma was founded in Nov.19 1907.

This is Oklahoma’s recreation places. Red Rock Canyon is located in the valley of western Oklahoma. Beaver Bend State Park a great place to go camping. Oklahoma University is a great place to get your degree. To know about cowboys you should go to the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Oklahoma’s customs are very interesting. You can go and see Native American dances, you can also go to Native American festivals. Of course you can go to the circus. Also there is the Will Roger Memorial Rodeo. There is so much stuff about Native American, because they used to live in Oklahoma.

Here are the things that Oklahoma manufactures. The things that are run by electricity are machinery, aircrafts, and things that are used for transportation. Things that aren’t run by electricity are petroleum products, packed food, wood products, and plastic products.

This is about Oklahoma’s natural resources. The ones that are formed below ground are natural gases, helium, coal, and copper. Some other resources under ground are oil, and granite.

These are the things that Oklahoma grows and raises. Things that are edible and that people grow are wheat peanuts, soybeans, corn, broomcorn, beans, peaches, watermelon, barley, and oats. The thing that is used for clothing is cotton. The animals that they raise are cattle and chickens.

I hope you liked my report on Oklahoma. This is how I did my report. First I got the info I needed for the typing stuff. Second I finished my two maps. Third I had to get four pictures for my state. Fourth I had to write all my paragraphs. Then I typed it on the computer. Next I drew and wrote about my flag. Lastly I made a cover for my report and made a poster on state symbols. I have learned a great deal about the wonderful state of OKLAHOMA.
