The size of this state is 121,666 square miles and it is the fifth biggest state. There are 1,685,401 people living in New Mexico. The capital of my state is Santa Fe. Some of the famous cities are Las Cruces, Rosewell, Farmington, Hobbs and, Clovis. My state has also has landforms like the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. One good fact I know about New Mexico is that New Mexico was named after the city and valley of Mexico, which was once the land of Spain. In 1539, Marcos discovered New Mexico and claimed it for Spain. Then in 1821, Mexico took control of New Mexico. Santa Fe is the oldest capital in the United States. The Spanish founded it. There are famous people who were born in New Mexico. The famous people from New Mexico are Billy the Kid, Kit Carson, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Nancy Lopez. Every year the Spanish people in New Mexico have ceremonies and dances. They also have festivals. It is one of their many traditions. During the ceremonies, festivals and the dances, they eat nachos, burritos and Spanish tacos. Places in New Mexico include World's Largest Chambers, Navajo Legends, Shiprock and the Balloon Fiesta. Those are the places to visit. You can also play games like Ping-Pong, golf and a lot more in the places you visit. My state, New Mexico, manufactures many goods. They are foods, machines, apparel, lumber, printing, and transportation equipment. In my state people grow hay, onions, wheat, pecans, corn, cotton, and sorghum. Their favorite foods are vegetables and fruits. The animals they raise are cattle, horses, bulls, rattle snakes, prairie, dogs and sheep. The natural resources above the ground in New Mexico are cactus and yucca plants. The resources below the ground are natural gas, iron ore, lead, copper, zinc, gold, sliver, and uranium. The state flower is the Yucca flower, the bird is the roadrunner, and the tree is the Nut Pine. I think you should go visit New Mexico because it is a beautiful place and you would enjoy yourself.
