Now surely you have heard of the Boston Tea Party, right? Now let me tell you about a little "tea party" in New Jersey. On a cold winter night in 1774, some young men from Greenwich dressed up as Indians. The air smelt sweet that night. Then, right then those men burned the tea. These tea parties started the Revolutionary War.

New Jersey is in the middle Atlantic region of the U.S. It is bordered by Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware. Even though New Jersey is the 5th smallest state with 7,787 square miles. It still has the biggest population density in the U.S! There are different people of different nationalities; 79.3% white, 13.4% black 9.6% Asian and 9.6% Hispanic.

The capital is Trenton and two other major cities are Newark and Jersey City. If you ever fell sick you should go to Newark because they make really good medicine and taking it will make you feel better really quick!

Jersey City manufactures things such as clothes, chemicals, and food products. The temperature is very different between northwest and southeast.

New Jersians love to go fishing and swimming in either the lakes (Hopatong Lake is the biggest), or the ocean, and the Hudson and Delaware rivers.

New Jersey's mountain ranges are Kittany, Ramapo and Watchung, people love to go skiing in them.

These are the some of the fun state symbols. The bird is the Eastern Goldfinch, the flower is the purple violet, the animal is the horse, the insect is the honeybee, the tree is the Red Oak, the colors are Buff and Blue and of course the motto is; Liberty and Prosperity.

New Jersey became our 3rd state on December 18, 1787.During the Civil War New Jersey sent in 88,000 soldiers to fight for the north side, even though most people wanted to keep their slaves! A big Revolutionary War battle was won at Trenton too.

Thomas Edison lived in New Jersey for several years and he became famous for inventing the light bulb. You can visit his home in Glenmont. Grover Cleveland and Woodrow Wilson lived in New Jersey for a long time and both became presidents.

There are a lot of historical sites at New Jersey. Such as Thomas Edison's home in Glenmont, and there are dozens of museums explaining New Jerseys history.

A famous gun duel took place in New Jersey in 1804. Aaron Burr and Aexander Hamilton fought it. Burr was angry at Hamilton because he kept Burr from being president. They met in the morning of July 11, 1804 in Weehawken. Hamilton was killed, you can see his picture on the $10

In New Jersey you will be able to tell time by the giant clock that so many New Jersians and New Yorkers tell time by, one hand weighs over a ton!

Sometimes in New Jersey has a beauty pageant. The beautiful women who enter the pageant look there best and were gorgeous gowns of all different colors.

New Jersey is BIG on sports. The played the first collage football game they also played the first baseball game. New Jersey has a lot of sports teams like, The New Jersey Nets and The New Jersey Devils. Even the New York Giants have a stadium in New Jersey.

New Jersey is varied in many ways. They have the mountains for skiining, and everyone loves to go fishing on the sand-white beaches, and you can visit a historic museum (or a different kind of museum).

Some natural resources are bodies of water, forests and mountains.

New Jersey raises a lot of sea food, beef cattle,chickens and turkeys. The delicious vegetables and fruits they grow are corn, barley, soy beans, tomatoes, lettuce, apple, cranberries, blueberries and milk. Wheat is a BIG crop.
