Colorado is truly a very beautiful state. It is located in the western part of the United States. New Mexico borders it on the southwest, Utah on the west, and Wyoming on the north, Nebraska borders Colorado on the north and Oklahoma borders Colorado on the south east.

Colorado's annual precipitation ranges from 10 to 20 inches. The average precipitation is 16.5 inches (42 centimeters). In the mountains there is about 20 to 30 feet of snow. Its coldest weather record was 20° below 0° F (28.9° C). The sun shines about 310 days a year.

Colorado is the 8th state in size in the United States. It's total area 104,100 square miles. Colorado's has 3,655,647 people and it's ranked 26 in population.

Colorado's capital is Denver, and some other city's are Morgan, Otero, Baco, Prowers, and Bent.

Colorado has many facts and symbols like the Lark Bunting, that is the state bird. The state license Plate is Purple Heart and the state fossil is the stegosaurus The state dance is the square dance and the state flower is the white and lavender columbine. Colorado's governor is Bill Owens. Colorado's Motto is Nothing without Providence.

Colorado's land forms are the Rocky Mountains, where a lot of people go skiing and rock climbing. High Plains are right next to the Rocky Mountains. The Great Plains are east of the Rocky Mountains.

Colorado became a state in August 1,1876 It was the 38th state in the United States. Some famous people are Molly Brown, John Colter, Byron White, Justin Ford, Amy Van Dykan, and Scott Carpenter. Molly Brown was on the Titanic and got rich in the Colorado's silver mines. John Colt was a fur trader. He traded with the Blackfeet Indians. Byron Whites was born in 1917 and is still alive, he was a justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Justin Ford was born in 1871 and died in 1952, she was the first African American to be a doctor in Colorado. Another Coloradan Amy Van Dykan won 4 gold medals and over came her asthma in the 1996 Summer Olympic games. Lastly Scott Carpenter he was one of the first astronauts in space, he was from Colorado.

Along time ago there was Indians in Colorado. They lived in eastern before the Spanish people came to Colorado. Yoot was an Indian tribe in Colorado, and they lived in western Colorado. Spanish people were the only non-Indians in Colorado.

One important event that happened in Colorado was in 1800 the Spanish people gave western Colorado to the French. In 1876 Colorado became part of the United States. In 1858 gold is found in Cherry Creek Colorado. In 1923 oil production is begun near Fort Collins. In 1932-1937 Drought hits the Great Plains.

Some places of interest to visit are Garden of Gods, an area with humongous red rocks grouped in an awesome formation. Another place to visit is the U.S. Air Force Academy, where young men are trained to be Air Force officers.

Colorado manufactures tires for cars and trucks, toys for kids, and luggage, Colorado also manufactures farm equipment to make plants and food for us to eat, sporting goods, cement so they could make the streets and side walks.

Some Natural resources above the ground is Forest products, national forests. Some resources under the ground are oil, gold, coil ,copper ,lead ,and silver.

Colorado grows fruits and vegetables for people to eat. Beans, corn, and hay. Wheat to make bread. Patatos , oats, and barley. Some things they raise are sheep, for clothes, poultry, beef, cattle, and cows for milk.

You should visit Colorado because you could see the Denver Broncos and climb the Rocky Mountains and ski in the winter. Colorado is a beautiful state.
