Wyoming

Montana was amazing but it was time to head off to Wyoming. Yellowstone National Park was just incredible. Did you know it was the nation's first national park? It is as large as Delaware and Rhode Island put together! We stopped to see Old Faithful send hot water into the air. I've never seen anything like that before. There were a lot of tourist but not too many people from Wyoming. In 2003 Wyoming ranked 50th in population of all the states. The Arapaho, Cheyenne, Sioux, Shoshone, and the Crow are just some of the Native American who used to call Wyoming home. The famous Battle of Little Big Horn between Colonel George Custer and Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull happened in Wyoming in 1876. Wyoming women were the first to get the right to vote too, in 1869! We stopped in Casper to catch a glimpse of the rodeo and the Oregon trail. We even took a ride on a wagon. I'm sure glad I have a truck to ride in. That wagon ride was pretty rough. We headed south to Laramie and Cheyenne. We hiked in Medicine Bow National Park. The settlers who went west really traveled through some beautiful country! In Cheyenne we saw a bison ranch. Those animals are huge! Wyoming was great but it was finally time to move on Nebraska.
