Wisconsin
by Tawona

As I left Chicago I thought I'd drive north and visit Wisconsin. As I drove along Lake Michigan I saw lots of fishing boats. Did you know the name Wisconsin comes from an Indian word that means "gathering of the waters" or "place of the beaver?" Winter last pretty long in Wisconsin and can get very cold. Lucky for me it was summer time. I was surprised how warm it was. My first stop was Milwaukee, the state's largest city. Then it was off to Madison, the state capital. I saw a lot of dairy farm along the way. Wisconsin is know for its butter and cheese. I learned that the state's nickname is "America's Dairyland." Some of the towns in Wisconsin have cool names, like La Crosse and Oshkosh. Wisconsin was a great place to visit but it's time to head off to Iowa.
