South Carolina I had fun learning about South Carolina. I learned a lot of facts. Let me tell you some facts that I learned. It is located on the southeastern part of the United States. It is on the coast. It is 31,055 square miles and ranks 40th. Its population is 3,119,208. Its capital is Columbia and it has many major cites. Some cities are Rock Hill and Charleston. South Carolina temperature is close to New Yorks temperature, but it is temperature is little higher. South Carolinas climate has hot summers and mild winters. I really like that kind of weather. It also has sub-zero temperature in the mountains and 100 degrees on the coast. South Carolina has three major nature regions. They are the Piedmont, the Blue Ridge Provinces, and the Atlantic Coast. It is mostly flat land. It has up country and low country. South Carolina has man made lakes, small lakes, ponds, and major rivers. The three rivers are Savannah River, Great Pee Dee River, and the Santa River. If I had to chance I would love to go in the waters because I love the water. South Carolina has a very interesting history. In 1670, Carolina began its state in Charleston. South Carolina used to be together with North Carolina. It was called Carolina. It became two states in 1712 and became called North Carolina and South Carolina. South Carolina has a nickname. It is called The Palmetto State. It became a state on May 23,1788. It was the eighth state that became part of the Union in 1788, and it was the first state to leave the union in 1860. Then it went back into the union in 1868. It made its new constitution in 1895. South Carolina integrated its public schools in 1963. That means they also allowed blacks to go to their white schools. South Carolina has a strong economic system. It can manufacture a lot of things. Some of these things are plastic, rubber products, electronic compactors, paper, textile machinery, lumber and tires. It ships out these products to different states. It also has natural resources that it uses for its economy. It has above ground resources like fisheries and forestry. They also have below ground resources like mining. South Carolina also grows plants and raises animals. It grows cotton, different types of pine, tobacco, beans, tomatoes, peaches hay wheat, and corn. It raises animals like turkey, calves, and hogs. South Carolina uses all of these things for its economy. That means they use it to make money. It was great fun learning about South Carolina. I hope you liked reading about South Carolina to.
