Kentucky I am writing a report on the state of Kentucky. It is located south of Indiana and Ohio. The climate in Kentucky always changes. In the winter it is about 40° F and in the summer it is between 80° -90° F. The population of Kentucky is about 4,000,000. The capital city is Louisville the other important cities are Lexington, Owensboro, Covington, Bowling Green, and Paducah. Kentucky has 3 main land regions. They are the Cumber and Plateau which has steep narrow hills, the penny rile plateau which is mostly level, and the blue grass region which has the best farmland. The Ohio and Mississippi River meet in Kentucky. Traveling through Kentucky you can see the state bird, which is the cardinal or the state fish, which is the bass. The state tree is the Kentucky coffee tree. "My old Kentucky home is the state motto is" United we stand divided we fall." One of the first people to visit Kentucky is Daniel Boone in 1769. By1774 Harrodburg became the first permanent settlement. Kentucky became a state in 1792. In 1811 the first steamboat came to Kentucky. In 1875 the first Kentucky Derby was held. Kentucky is known for making the distilled whiskey. They called their product bourbon. It was made with Kentucky grains and pure spring water. Kentucky grows tobacco and wheat. They raise horses, birds and fish. It is the nations largest manufacture of American cheese and the second-largest producer of evaporated milk. Kentucky has a unbelievable amount of coal. Seventy billion tons of coal are still in the grounds of. Clays, lead, zinc, sand, gravel and natural gas are Kentuckys geological treasures. There are a lot of recreational activities to do in Kentucky. You can visit parks, caves, stables, zoos and farms. People enjoy visiting the Jefferson Davis statue because he was born there. So if you are ever in Kentucky, go to some of these places. As you can see Kentucky is such a cool state to visit. It has many places to explore. It might be fun to plan your next trip there.
