Kansas I am doing a state report on Kansas. It is North of Oklahoma and South of Nebraska. Its climate is lots of rain and all year round in the summer and winter. Its population is 2,365,236 people in the year of 1980. Its size is 82,264 square mils. Topeka is the capital of Kansas and the cities are Wichita, Topeka, Overland Park, Lawrence Salina, and Hutchinson. Kansas has three main land regions, they are the Till Plains, the Southeastern Plains, the Great Plains. Also Kansas has no mountains. It just has Chalk Pyramids between Scott and Oakley. Kansas has six streams, Smoky Hill, Republican, Arkansas, Cimarron and Neosho. My state has many interesting symbols like its state's animal is the big American buffalo and the flower is the very beautiful native sunflower that we like to plant in the summer. The state song that is very famous is "Home on the Range." The beautiful state bird is known as the western meadowlark. The state tree is the Cotton wood tree. The motto is "To the stars through difficulties." Kansas became a state in 1861 and Kansas became a territory in 1858 and also became the 34th state. Kansas was named after the Kansas Indians who once roamed the land. Amelia Earhart was born in Kansas. About 1 million years ago there were huge flying dinosaurs with a wing spand of 25 feet a wing. You can fish in the rivers or lakes of Kansas. You can ride the horses in the huge fields. You can also watch the buffalo roam in the very huge flat fields. Wichita produces most of the small airplanes that are flown in America, train cars and farming machines are made in Kansas, Cattle on the ranches are made or turned into meat. Also cars and soap are also made in Kansas. Kansas is famous for beef cattle. Sunflowers grow in the fields of Kansas. Buffalo are also raised in Kansas. Corn and bread are grown in Kansas. Hogs are raised in Kansas and probably will be killed for bacon and poultry, such as ducks are raised in Kansas. Natural resources in Kansas are for above ground some would be oil or sand and some of below ground would be coal, stone, natural gas, and gravel. Kansas is a very interesting state with its many cities rivers and lakes. There are lots of things to do in Kansas when I grow up I might go to visit Kansas some day. Kansas is a very great place to visit.
