Idaho

The state I am writing about is Idaho. Idaho borders Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. Climate in my state is warm, there are dry summers, cold severe winters, winds from the Pacific Ocean, and some mountains keep the warm air in and the cold air out. Idaho is located in the upper northwest. Population in Idaho is 943,935. Idaho's size is 83,557 square miles. Boise is the capital of Idaho. Idaho's cities are: Twin Falls, Nampa, Lewiston, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello.

Idaho has many land forms. The main land forms are: valleys, mountains ranges, deep canyons like Hells Canyon, prairies all over the state, deserts, forests, mountains like Borah Peak and plains to Great Plains. Idaho also has rivers and lakes like: Pend Oreille Lake, Clearwater River, Snake River and Coeur 'd Alene the lake. Some of the mountains in the state are : Borah Peak, 12,000 ft., Sawtooth Mountains, and Bitterroot Mountains. The principal river is Snake River. Idaho has three different land regions they are: the narrow north, the wide south, and middle Idaho.

Some symbols and facts on Idaho are: if you walk through forests in Idaho you might see a lot of Syringa's which is the state flower, you will see many White Pines, the state tree. You might even catch a glimpse of the state bird, the Mountain Blue Bird. The Star Garnet is Idaho's state gem. In Idaho's plains you might see an Appaloosa Horse, the state animal. Idaho's nickname is "It Is Forever". In Idaho you also might hear people singing the state song "Here We Have Idaho". Idaho's state nickname is "The Gem State".

Some interesting history about my state is: on July 3, 1890 Idaho became the 43rd state. At Palisades Dam an immigration project was completed in 1959. In 1936 Sun Valley becomes the nation's first biggest skiing area. In 1949 a Nuclear Reactor Testing Station was built near Idaho Falls. Lewis and Clark passed through Idaho in 1805. At 1884 silver and lead was found in Coeur d' Alene and in 1972 a fire in Sunshine Silver Mine in Shoshone Country kills 91 people.

There are many different places you can visit in Idaho. Here are some of them: Hells Canyon, which is the deepest gorge in North America, Sun Valley Skiing, World Center for Birds of Prey, Craters of the Moon, Crystal Falls Cave, and Lava Hot Springs. Some rivers, lakes, and mountains are: River Of No Return Wilderness Area, Red Fish Lake, Lake Pend Oreille, Lake Coeur d' Alene, and Sawtooth Mountains. Some other information that Idaho remembers from the past is Chief Joseph a helpful Indian. Also in Idaho they remember about Cowboys and Indians. Idaho has many rodeos.

My state manufactures many things. Idaho makes billions of dollars a year manufacturing. My states main manufactured products are potatoes. Some things my state manufactures are: potatoes, potato flour, many mobile homes, construction companies, testing associations, trailers, saw mills, electronics, hosiery, plastics, fishing tackle, business forms, ski equipment.

People who live in Idaho might grow wheat, barley, and oats on large farms. These products are eaten by both animals and people. Hay is produced for horses and other animals. Potatoes, sugar beets, and other fruits and vegetables are also important crops in Idaho. Some animals Idaho raises are to eat and use like cows and sheep which are used for milk, dairy products, and wool. Hogs, beef cattle, and poultry are used for eating meat.

There are natural resources in Idaho like any other state above ground and below ground. Above ground there are loggers who cut down logs. Logs jams are also dangerous in Idaho. Below ground there are many minerals like: phosphate rock, limestone, sand gravel, zinc, silver, lead, thorium, gold, copper, mercury, antimony, uranium, vanadium.

Idaho is a great place to visit because of its rodeos. It is also very interesting because of craters from moons, great lakes and rivers, and its tall mountains. In Idaho you will see many rodeos in Boise. Many people come to Idaho mostly because of its warm weather. When I grow up I might decide to live in Idaho.
