Iowa is located in the northwest. The record high temperature is 118F (1934). The record low is -47C in Jan 1912. Its population is 2,908,000is 23 in rating and is 55,941 square miles. The capital is Des Moines and some main cities are Cedar Rap, Davenport, Sioux City and Waterloo. Iowa has rich soil, an ice mantle, hills, and valleys and glaciers. Iowa's state bird is the Eastern Gold finch its nickname is the Hawkeyes. The state mottoes are "Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain." Its tree is the oak. Also the state stone is called Geode. Finally, the state song is "The song of Iowa."

Iowa has an important history. For example in 1673-The first white people to own land in Iowa, in 1788- Iowa stated mining. 1846- Iowa became the 29 state in America in. 1803- U S A acquired Iowa during Louisiana Purchase. In 1832- Blackhawk loses Blackhawk war; according to Blackhawk Indians give Iowa a strip of land to Iowa. In 1846- Iowa becomes the 29 state. In 1867- the first railroad is conpled in Iowa. In the mid 1970's- manufacturing took over a gricultur. Iowa's costumes are the national Hot air balloon, showcase for champion pigs and cows, Iowa state fair is in Des Moines, Winter sports festival, Riverboat days and Nordic feast. Iowa's Recreation is boating, fishing, swimming, hunting, and fun hikes.

Iowa manufactures farm machinery, food productouts, chemical, electrical equipment, printed materials, and fabricated metal products. Iowa also grows soybeans, corn, oats, hay, grapes, sorghums and vegetables. Iowa raises cattle, dairy cows, hogs, wildlife refuge and poultry. Iowa natural resources above ground are grassy plans, rivers and hard wood forests. Below ground are fertilized soil, limestone, sand, gravel and mining.
