Colorado

My report is on the state of Colorado. Colorado's population is 2,888,834. It's capital is Denver. Colorado is located in the western part of the United States. It's surrounded by Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. The climate is that the summers are short. There's a lot of moisture and they could get 20 to 30 feet of snow in the winter.

Colorado has four main regions Rocky Mountain, High Plains, Great Divide and the Colorado River. The Colorado River is the main river, it flows on the western part of the Great Divide. The Great Divide splits the High Plains from the Rocky Mountains. Colorado is split in half, half is R rockies and the other half is high plains. Every word must mean something. Well in Spanish, Colorado means red. My state has a lot of symbols it's motto is Nothing Without Providence, I'm not sure what that means but maybe you can find out. The state bird is the Lark Bunting witch you might find in the state tree. The state animal is the Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep witch might find in Colorado's beautiful mountains. The stone is the Aquamarine that is a sea green color. The state song is Where the Columbines Grow you might find people singing that in parades.

The Indians were the first to settle in Colorado. The tribes were the Arapaho, Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, and the Pawnee. However the first white men to come to Colorado were the Spanish. In 1706 Juan de Ulibarri claimed Colorado for Spain. In 1858 prospectors found gold along the Cherry Creek. Colorado became a state August 1, 1876.

Colorado has many fun things to do. You can go hiking on Colorado’s mountains. If you want to see a movie you might want to go to the Red Rocks Theater. Or for a tour of the Cliff Place or the Square Tower House. If you want to live outside for a week or two you can go camping on Colorado’s campground, or skiing on the snowy mountains.

Colorado grows all different kinds of crops, potatoes is one of them. Wheat and corn would grow in large stalks probably on a big farm. Sheep and cattle would also be found on a big farm. They would most likely to be grazing on the grass in the fields.

Colorado has natural resources too. Stone, sand, gravel, and clay are all above ground. Below ground is silver, gold, coal, copper, and iron. Natural gas, mica, and lead is also found below ground.

Colorado is a fun place to visit. It is interesting and neat. I hope you go and visit it, and if you do have a great time.
