As Halloween approaches, our third graders have been noticing how important a good descriptive setting is to a spooky story. They have employed the lessons they've learned from the Empowering Writers Program, and written introductory paragraphs that "set" the mood. At a later date, they will have the opportunity to revisit these pieces and continue their stories.
