John D. Rockefeller was born on July 8, 1839 in Richford, NY. His father's name was William Avery Rockefeller. John's mother's name was Eliza Davison. John had three sisters. One died at a young age. John had two brothers. John got his job on September 26, 1855. Every September 26 he would celebrate and call the celebration Job Day! John married Laura Celestia Spellman on September 8, 1864. John and his family moved to New York City in 1883. John gave $5,000 to a school for black women in 1884. John bought land in Pocantico Hills for his family. In 1902 to 1904 Ida Tarbell wrote lots of articles about John's company. John's autobiography was published in 1909. John gave dimes to people to greet them. Laura Celestia Rockefeller died in Pocantico Hills, NY in 1915. John died on May 23, 1937 in Ormond Beach, Florida at the age of 97. What would the world do without him?
