By Joshua

James Madison was born on March 16, 1751. He was born in Conway, Virginia. His grandmother was important to him because she educated him at home. He married Dolly Madison in 1812. Dolly Madison was warm and caring. He almost retired from politics because she made home life so pleasurable. They never had any children.

James Madison went to college at Dartmouth for one year. Then he went to Princeton University. James Madison was a congressman before he became President.

James Madison belonged to the Democrat-Republican Party. James Madison ran against Pickney. James Madison won by 65 votes.

James Madison succeeded in doing many things. For example, he ratified the Constitution by helping to write the Federalist essays. In Congress he helped write the Bill of Rights. He was involved with the Macron's Bill Number Two. This was a situation in which Britain and France had to respect America's neutrality. They had to respect the trade embargo.

That situation with Britain also tells about his relationship with foreign countries. Some battles were fought in America. One was so devastating that the British set the White House on fire.

When James Madison left office he became the head of the University of Virginia. James Madison died June 26, 1836.
