On a hot summer day in July, my family and I boarded the cruise ship S.S. Alitalia. It was my first time on a ship and I was so excited I couldn't stand still. As we were cruising through the canals of Venice, Italy, we were able to see the famous churches and piazzas.

 

My family and I were enjoying a delicious lunch on board, when all of a sudden the captain shouted, "Everyone hold on, the ship is out of control and headed for a row of houses." The people below started to run and scream. The houses below the ship were all getting crushed. Then the ship suddenly stopped. Within minutes the police and the fire department arrived to help the people get off the ship and checked if anyone got hurt. We were very lucky because everyone was OK. We decided to watch the emergency workers pull the ship back into the harbor.
