Just Dessert

"Should I have pumpkin pie?" Emily thought to herself. Emily thought it was a good idea to make home made pumpkin pie. It was a very dark and cold night. Emily put on her warmest coat, gloves and her favorite light blue hat. She walked to the closest pumpkin patch. There was a sign that said, GARDEN OF MAGICAL PUMPKINS in upper case letters. As she walked through the pumpkin patch she saw a shiny orange pumpkin. "This is the perfect pumpkin," she thought to herself. Emily quickly picked up the pumpkin and headed back home.

When she returned home, all warmed up, she put her apron on. Then she took a knife and started to cut, but as soon as the knife touched the pumpkin it lit up bright. She lowered the knife and it grew even brighter. Before she could blink, the magical pumpkin transformed into a woman.

Emily's eyes widened as she spotted the women's light green skin. She quivered when she noticed the black lips and eyes that the mysterious woman had. Her dark green hair reminded her of late spring grass. The woman was about to speak. She said, "Greetings! My name is Luna. I am god of all magical pumpkins. Please don't hurt me, I beg of you. If you kill me, I will disappear and so will all my people."

"I won't kill you," Emily said softly. "My name is Emily. All I wanted was some homemade pumpkin pie."

"Didn't you see the sign? It was on the front on the left," the strange woman asked.

"I'll put you back in the patch. I didn't see the sign. I'm sorry to have bothered you," replied Emily.

The woman transformed herself back into a pumpkin. Emily got her coat back on and her gloves and her light blue hat. She went to the patch where she had found the pumpkin. She placed the pumpkin in the same spot and slowly walked out of the patch. Emily hoped that the magical pumpkins would be safe forever.
