Hi my name is Deborah Sampson and I’m going to tell you about my life and me. First about me, well, I’m kind, I care and I like to try new things. I have brown hair and brown eyes.

When the war was on I was tired of being quiet and caring. So I decided to join. First, I thought of to wear in order to look like a man. Then, I started to sew the clothes. After that I was ready except for one problem. Would anyone know that I’m a woman? I went to my mother’s house and she thought I was a man. But I still wasn’t sure. A fortune teller lived by my mother’s house and I past. She thought I was a man too! Then, the next day I was marching in the army and my new name was Robert.

During the war one of my new friends got shot and I had to call a doctor. While he was looking at my friend some of my hair fell out from my hat so he took off my hat and he found out that I was a girl, but he didn’t say anything. One day he told the General of the Army then everybody found out. So I became the first woman to join the army.
