Sam Adams, "Hi!" "Samuel Adams is my name. I am the son of a Boston merchant, Mr. Adams. I was one of the most important organizers of the American Revolution. Sometimes I had to fight single-handedly for the principle of liberty. In those days when America was still a colony of England, all the laws were made by the English Parliament. These laws were made to take away the wealth of us, the Americans in form of taxes. One such law was to tax us for buying glass, paper, paint, and tea, which were made in England. To protest against this law, we as a group called the "Sons of Liberty" dressed as Indians, rowed out to the tea ships, which were anchored, on Boston Harbor. We tore open the tea boxes and dumped them into the sea. This event was called the "Boston Tea Party." After this event, our congress voted for Independence of America and we wrote an important paper called the Declaration of Independence. After this a long war was fought by us, which was led by George Washington against Great Britain. We won the war. We were Free! An adventure that I would like to be in is this. I was the leader of an army that was against New Hampshire. We won but New Hampshire would not give up, it tried again with all the force it had. We fought back. A little boy sneaked in the area where I was fighting. I saw him and told him that it was dangerous and to go away. Instead he hid behind a tree, took out his slingshot from his pocket and shot it at the leader of the other army. It hit him in his right eye, now he was blind in one eye and resting behind a tree. One of the soldiers came to see if he was all right. While he was going, we shot him. Then I came behind the resting leader and shot him. The rest of the army was scared because they had no leader to lead them. They retreated. We won!!! |
