Marquis de Lafayette Hi Im Marquis de Lafayette. Im a white man. Im serious, well educated, and my family is rich. I wear a coat with about 28 brass buttons down each side. My shirt has about 8 brass buttons with ruffled collar. I have dark pants, dark boots and a triangular hat When I was twenty years old I was hired by an American agent in Paris to be a major in the American Revolutionary War. I road up to the front of the American line challenging the British troops. I felt very excited. The American soldiers rallied to hold the line. On this day September 11,1777, in the Battle of Brandywine. I was wounded in the leg as I fought side by side with the colonists. It was the top of the ninth inning with two outs during game six of the 1996 World Series. The Yankees were winning 3-2. Jermaine Dye was up at bat. All of a sudden the people in the stadium heard people marching down 161st street. Dick Drago a fan, looked outside to see what was happening. He then ran up to the announcers box and shouted "The French are coming, The French are coming to take over Yankee Stadium and us it as a fort." Then Phil Rizzuto, an announcer, announced, "Dont panic, Lafayette and his troops are coming from the other direction to defend us." Gunfire began and The French and Lafayette War started. Ed Shred was the French leader and I was the American leader. The war lasted for only 2 hours. The Americans were strong and my troops and I won the war in record time. After the game I was tired but I decided to go into the stadium to see the end of the game which continued after the war ended. Jermaine Dye continued his at bat. He hit a long ball to center field, which would have gone over the wall but Bernie Williams, jumped up and reached over the fence and made an outstanding catch. The Yankees won The World Series 3-2. It was a great night for me and my troops and a great night for the Yankees. After the game the Yankees invited me into the locker room and thanked me for saving Yankee Stadium. I woke up on an island in the middle of a river. I looked around, no bear. And there, not more than a few feet away, was a wooden raft with 1 paddle! I guess somebody tried to get away but that bear beat 'em to the raft and the kid got eaten, I thought. Shivers ran down my back. So I went to the raft very quietly and dragged it to where the shore of the river was. I got my gun, put it on the raft and started to paddle my way across the river. I knew where I was because of the surveying I had been doing. I was halfway across when a wave knocked the raft and I did a somersault onto the bank. |
