A Cold Night in Winter

In an icy winter night, a furry cottontail rabbit nibbles and munches on plants that had not been covered by the snow yet. A sly coyote follows the tracks of a great doe who goes to a watering hole to get an icy drink. Her nose touches the water. Her mouth opens when suddenly she senses danger around her. She stands still and waits a moment. Then she bolts away in a flash, escaping the attack. The doe runs and runs until she comes to a stop!

She is stopped by a frozen lake. The lake is not stable enough to be walked on. The doe starts to worry but she senses danger is near. She goes around the lake. The coyote thinks the deer is too smart so he goes and looks for some other prey. A white weasel squeaks by, the coyote chases the weasel. The coyote caught the weasel, and ate the meat from it. Bones remained left and fur. A mountain lion followed the tracks of the coyote. It ends up at the bones and fur that the coyote made. The mountain lion eats the tiny left over food that the coyote didn’t see.
