Birds, Birds, Birds!

Our budding naturalists in kindergarten "researched" a particular kind of bird with a partner. They were told to find 3 facts about a given bird and draw it. The partners had to agree who the writer and who the illustrator was. It was wonderful to see how well they worked together and divided up the work. Augie took a long time drawing a beautiful tufted titmouse, while Youssef carefully wrote the text. Brian D. wrote while Kayla drew the foreground of their blue jay picture, then he added a bird and man in the background. Chelsea and Tyler shared the writing as well as the drawing, both making a picture of mourning doves. Gianna did the drawing of a black capped chickadee while Nicky wrote, Frankie drew the white-crested nuthatch going down the tree headfirst, just as Jeffrey's writing explained, and Brian S. drew the bright red cardinal as Christian did the writing.

We hope to see all of these native birds on our forthcoming nature walks and trips to Stone Barns!
